good food , great service from our server . we were a group of 8 . After eating we decided to continue the experience at the bar where we continued to buy drinks . that's where our enjoyment ended when one of the host told all 8 of us that we had to be seated at the bar ... we could not stand at the "bar" there were certainly not enough seats nor did we want to spread out Not a very pleasant gentleman . that's when we left with a bit of a sour taste !!! im not sure of any bar in Miami where we have to sit at the bar!

It had been a while since we had been to Coconut Grove and we wanted to try somewhere new. This was the perfect spot! This place is beautiful - we sat outdoors and it was so aesthetically pleasing. High ceilings, plenty of fans for ventilation, a lot of greenery and neutral colors. The service was solid. Food was good and priced fairly especially compared to others in the area. For my entree I ordered los tacos de costilla cargada (braised short rib tacos). All taco orders come with three. Their tortillas are made in house and are so delicious. They were pretty generous with the protein amount and they tasted very good (4/5) $20 I also tried their queso fundido which was good and very indulgent, think of the cheesiest pizza you ever had. Worth a try. I tried their mole negro (chicken mole) as well. It was pretty good but seemed a bit skimpy on the protein and the chicken was a bit dry. For my drink I went with the mango petacon mezcal which was very refreshing. I asked if they could make it spicy, and I enjoyed the subtle kick. For dessert went with churros which were good and came with a bit of coffee and ice cream to mix with. When I got the bill there was a discrepancy, I was charged full price for the drinks but the server offered happy hour prices. Thankfully the situation was quickly rectified. All in all this is a great option to try while in this area. A lot of similar spots in this area are overpriced. I like that koko offers delicious food in a beautiful area at a reasonable price. I would definitely come back in to explore more of their menu.

The drinks were great with lots of variety. I loved the micheladas especially. The only negative was that reservations were had to come by so we ate late and our waiter didn't tell us the bar or kitchen was closing so we missed dessert and a last drink. Our server apologized and said she didn't know what happened but it wasn't a normal wait time. No worries for us--we were enjoying our Saturday night and the food was great. Just a warning you may want to check on timing. We asked our server for several recommendations. She helped us choose the perfect bottle of wine and the meal we were looking for. The short rib dish was a standout--perfectly braised, tender, and packed with deep, rich flavors from smoking for 12hrs the bone-in cut of beef. . It was beautifully plated and paired with sides that elevated the dish even further and served with delicious blue corn tortillas. The Cinco de Mayo special was creative and full of vibrant, bold flavors, showcasing the chef's talent for combining traditional and modern culinary elements. The server told us the backstory of how this dish came about (no waste of a spoiled byproduct) which had us questioning our choice, but it was by far the best traditional Mexican dish I've had in the states and abroad in Mexico. Tasted like a creamy truffle quesadilla. The service was exceptional, with a friendly and knowledgeable staff who guided us through the menu and made spot-on recommendations. **Vegetarian Friendly** It's RARE to find a mexican restaurant in Miami that caters to a vegetarian diet. Much to my surprise they even had a dedicated vegetarian portion on their menu! Large restaurant to plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and great for a large family gathering! I loved their ambience and aesthetic. Our Order: Appetizer: (1) Tzirita de Michoacan Entree: (1) Tacos de Verduras con Mole Negro and (2) Tacos de Hongos con Rajas Poblanas y Epazote The Tzirita de Michoacan was their spin on an Italian Burrata dish which was fantastic. Great table appetizer! Glad it came with unlimited tortilla chips too. Both of the tacos tasted the same to us, so really a personal preference on vegetable selection. The mole was not a traditional mexican mole with deep chocolate flavors, but rather more subtle flavors, which made it more palatable for us. The tacos were fresh and felt very lite. PS: You absolutely need a reservation on weekend, the walk-in wait for 2+ hours. However, bar seating is open to anyone.

TLDR: Great vibes, great food, great service. I came with my wife for her birthday dinner. It seems that dinner reservations are recommended, at least on a Saturday. We were lucky to get a table though. The atmosphere is upscale casual. The design is pretty remarkable as they blend the outdoor and indoor seating areas seamlessly with the bar in the center. The decor is modern but with Mexican themes. The margaritas were recommended by our server so we tried a passion fruit and mango margarita. Both were delicious with great flavor and presentation. For an appetizer we had the queso fundido chorizo. The queso and chorizo complimented each other perfectly. It comes with some corn tortillas to enjoy with. Additionally there is a plate for the table of salt and salsa you can use to augment your meal. For entrees I had the mole verde and my wife had the suizas enchiladas. The mole verde had been one the best meals I've had since moving to Miami. The flavor of the mole was fresh and exceptional. It paired well with the Chilean sea bass which had a crispy sear and was perfectly flaky. It comes with corn tortillas and a house rice which both act as starches to bring the dish together. Additionally I had several bites of my wife's enchiladas which were exceptionally cheesy. I think the experience at Koko was enjoyable with great service. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. I would highly recommend this establishment if you're looking for an elevated Mexican food experience.

FINALLY got to try the Tomahawk, we've tried ordering it a few time but they've been out of stock. We were so happy to finally try it and it did not disappoint! This is a great entree to share with your partner or with the table (and some other entrees). It was cooked perfectly, super flavorful & juicy. This is definitely my go to order from now on!
